Casio FX-991ES Plus

Casio products are known by three qualities:

The calculator is the examinee’s weapon for the board exams. Without it, you cannot perform  well during the actual board exams. The role of your calculator during exams is to speed up your computations with accuracy. Before you enroll at a civil engineering review center or start your self-review, I encourage you to buy a calculator (preferably Casio FX-991 ES Plus) because it is approved to be used in the PRC Board Exams for Civil Engineering and as an effective review tool as well. If you had bought your new calculator, just make sure you must study the calculator’s manual and be familiar with the calculator's keys. With this, you will enable to improve your chances of passing the board exams if you use your calculator wisely together with your rigorous review program.

Both Casio FX-991ES and the latest released FX-991ES Plus are approved scientific calculators that can be used in PRC Civil Engineer Board Exam. The difference between the two is its higher variable memory (9 variables), use of random integer, additional 14 functions, and improved design for ES Plus model. In addition the price of ES Plus is a little more expensive.

Comparison when I used Casio FX-991ES Plus to my previous Casio FX 991MS

Casio FX-991MS and Casio FX-991ES Plus

When I took up my CE board exam almost a decade ago, I had used two-way power Casio FX-991MS, until now I still used it for my estimates, projects, etc. Casio 991 series has almost the same abilities like 991MS with 401 Functions and 991ES with 417 functions. In fact, FX-991ES Plus is the upgraded version of FX-991MS. The only difference is that the large natural textbook display (Natural-VPAM) of the equations which caught my attention - a user friendly feature of 991ES; meaning you can enter mathematical equation/expression just as written in your textbook – an amazing feature.

My 10-year old calculator

I had bought my Casio FX-991MS when I enrolled in a CE review center on 2003 because of three reasons: one, my review lecturers used some techniques during their review classes (most especially in calculus problems) two, of its features that can help reviewees speed up their calculations with accuracy and three, my review lecturers endorse it to use this kind of calculator. Now my Casio FX-991MS is a decade-old and I still use it for my estimating projects. The price during that time is almost the same as of Casio FX-991ES Plus today.

Casio calculators are known for its high quality products DUE TO ITS DURABILITY (according to my professors and review lecturers) that it can last more than a decade (actually I had replaced the batteries), so you must invest for a scientific calculator like FX-991ES Plus for its features, and most review centers today prefer this model; they used it during their review classes and some offer it as an enhancement course.
