“BELIEVE while others are doubting
PLAN while others are playing
STUDY while others are sleeping
DECIDE while others are delaying
PREPARE while others are daydreaming
BEGIN while others are procrastinating
WORK while others are wishing
SAVE while others are wasting
LISTEN while others are talking
SMILE while others are pouting
COMMEND while others are criticizing
PERSIST while others are quitting.”

“Sow a thought
reap an action
Sow an action
reap a habit
Sow a habit
reap a character
Sow a character
reap a destiny.”

Get in tune with GOD’S Spirit; He’ll give you a dream
Get in touch with GOD’S people, ask them for help
It will be humbling and that’s good
GOD’S people will make it happen
Then get in time with GOD’S calendar
Here are the four answers GOD can give you a prayer:
When the request is not right, GOD says, “NO!”
When you are right, GOD says, GROW!”
When the time is not right, GOD says, SLOW!”
When everything is right, GOD says, “GO!”

- Robert Schuler

I need a strength to keep me true
And a strength in everything I do
I need a power to keep me strong
When I am tempted to do wrong

I need an arm to be my stay
When dark with trouble grows my day
And where on earth can these afford
But all is found in CHRIST, MY LORD

- Theodore Horton

There are three lessons I would write,
Three words, as with burning pen
In tracings of eternal light,
Upon the hearts of men

Have HOPE, though clouds environ round,
And gladness hides his face in scorn,
Out off the shadow from thy brow
No night but hath its morn

Have FAITH, when the bark is driven,
The calms disport the tempest’s mirth,
Know this: GOD rules the hosts of heaven,
The inhabitants of earth

Have LOVE, not love alone for one,
But man, as man, thy brother call,
And scatter, like a circling sun,
Thy charities on all
-              Friedrich Von Schiller

Genius, that power which dazzles mortal eyes
Is often but PERSEVERANCE in disguise
Continuous effort of itself implies,
Inspite of countless fails, the power to rise

Twist failure and success, the prints so fine
Men sometimes know not when they touch the line;
Just when the pearl is waiting one more plunge
How many a struggler has thrown up the sponge.

A little persistence, courage vim,
Success will dawn over failure’s cloudy rim
Then take this honey for bitterest cup
There is no failure in giving up

No real fall, so long as one still tries,
For seeming set-backs make the strong man wise
There’s no defeat, in truth, save from within
Unless you’ve beaten there, you’ve bound to win

This is a lesson you should heed,
Try and try again;
If at first you don’t succeed,
Try and try again;
Then your courage would appear,
For, if you will persevere,
You will conquer, never fear;
Try and try again

One grain of knowledge
And that is well stored;
Another and more on them
As time rolls on your mind will shine;
With many garnered gem
Of thoughts and wisdom
And time will tell
One thing at a time;
And that is done well
In wisdom, is proven rule

I asked GOD for strength, that I might achieve -
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for help that I might do greater things –
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy –
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life –
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things
I got nothing that I asked for –
But everything I had hoped for.
Despite myself, my prayers were answered –
I am among all men, most richly blessed!

Let Go and Let GOD

As children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to GOD, because He was my Friend.
But then, instead of leaving HIM in peace to work alone,
I hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own
At last I snatched them back and cried,
“How can you be so slow?”
My child, HE said, “What could I do?
You never did let go.”

You are the fellow, who has to decide,
Whether you’ll do it or toss it aside!
You are the fellow who makes up your mind
Whether you’ll lead or linger behind
Whether you’ll try the good that’s a far,
Or just be content to stay where you are.
Take it, or leave it, there’s something to do,
Just think it over, it’s up to you!

“GOD answers prayers, sometimes, when hearts are weak,
HE gives the gifts believers seek.
But often faith must learn a deeper test,
And trust GOD’S silence, when HE does not speak.
For HE, whose name is LOVE will send the best.
Stars may burn out, nor do mountain walls endure
For those who seek.”

Somebody said that it couldn’t be done,
But he with a chuckle replied,
That maybe it wouldn’t but he would be one,
Who wouldn’t say “NO’s”, till he tried.

So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin,
In his face, if he’s worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing.
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.

- Edgar A. Guest

“Trust HIM”

Trust HIM when dark doubts assail thee,
Trust HIM when thy strength is small,
Trust HIM when to simply trust HIM
Seems the hardest thing of all!

Trust HIM, HE is ever faithful.
Trust HIM for HIS will is best.
Trust HIM for the Heart of Jesus
Is the only place of rest!

Trust HIM then through doubts and sunshine;
All thy cares upon HIM cast,
Till the storm of life is over
And the trusting days are past

“Worry – Free”

To worry does no good at all
But does a lot of harm;
It puts lines upon your face
And dissipates your charm

Whatever is to be, will be
That worry cannot change;
It only serves to dim your joy
And all your friends estrange.

This lack of confidence in self
That causes wrong’s fright;
A lack of faith in God’s design
Your happiness will blight.

Then cast aside these gloomy thoughts
And bid your dark fears flee;
Live in the light of faith and love,
Joyful and worry – free

“There’s Nothing So Bad”

There’s nothing so bad
That it could not be worse;
There’s little that time may not mend,
And troubles, no matter how thickly they come,
Most surely will come to an end.

You’ve stumbled-well, so we all in our time.
Don’t dwell overmuch on regret,
For you’re sorry, God knows –
Well, leave it all at that –
Let past things be past, and forget.

Don’t respond, don’t give up, but just be yourself –
The self that is highest and best.
Just live every day in a sensible way.
And then leave to God all the rest.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit –
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit, -
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

For every pain, that we must bear,
For every burden, every care,

For every grief that bows the heart,
For every tear-drop that is shed,

For every hurt, for every plight,
For every lonely, pain-racked night

But if we trust God, as we should,
It all will work out for our good,
HE knows the reason.

Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion.
You must set the fire
If others do 50 push-ups, you do 51.
If they go the extra mile, you go the extra 10.
If they are fast, be faster.
If they are smart, be brilliant.
If they have the bigger hammer,
You have the sharper nail.

Don’t solve the problems, anticipate them.
Don’t promise results, get them.
Treat every challenge as an opportunity in work clothes.
Know that well done is better than well said.
That is not just the hours you put in,
But what you put into the hours.

Let others dream of worthy accomplishments.
You stay awake and do them.
Believe you can’t be beaten and you won’t be beaten,
That there is plenty of room at the top,
But not enough to sit down.

It’s easy to put these words down on paper,
Start putting them into practice,

...and excel still more...

- Anonymous

If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t;
If you’d like to win, but you think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch you won’t;
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost,
For out in the world you’ll find
Success begins with a fellow’s will –
It’s all in the state of mind.

For many a race is lost,
Before even a race is run,
And many a coward fails,
Before even his work’s begun.
Think big and your deeds will grow,
Think small and you fall behind.
Think that you can, and you will;
It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are;
You’ve got to think high to rise;
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battle doesn’t always go
To the stronger and faster man;
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks HE CAN!

- Walter D. Wintle

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy,
To multiply trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
His love as no limit, His grace has no measure;
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.

- Annie Johnson Flint

When I was young and free,
And my imagination had no limits,
I dreamed of changing the world.

As I grew older and wiser,
I discovered the world would not change,
So I shortened my sights somewhat
and decided to change my country.

But it, too seemed immovable.

As I grew into my twilight years,
In one last desperate attempt,
I settled for changing only my family,
Those closer to me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now as I lie on my deathbed,
I suddenly realize;
If I had only changed myself first,
Then by example
I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement,
I would then have been able
To better my country and, who knows,
I may have been changed the world.

Brother Rudyard Kipling

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Albert C. Lim

Let us: Produce Results, not Excuses
Inject Creativity into our work, not Passivity
Practice Professionalism, not Amateurism
Strive to Perfect our Craft, not Mediocrity
Develop Initiative, not Indifference
Pay more attention to detail, not to Generalize
Impose Productivity on Ourselves, not Inefficiency
Become Resourceful, not Contentment
Focus on Directions, not Abstractions
Have More Action than Procrastination

It takes a “knock” to open the door,
A “knock” to open your eyes;
It takes a “knock” to open the way,
That we may realize our goal,
That the dream is won because we try,
Though a “knock” may spur on us,
Life is made up of joys and “knock”
And each day begins with the dawn.
